Why detector output has to be verified
The output voltage of a holiday detector is influenced by weather conditions, moisture on the pipe, improper grounding and soil conditions. The dial setting is therefore not proof of what the instrument is actually delivering, and an inspection run at the wrong voltage either misses holidays or punctures sound coating. A Jeepmeter is how that gets checked.
