The route

Cut & Prepare

Before anything is joined it has to be cut to size and the edge prepared. Plasma for plate and profile, abrasives for the bevel and the clean-up.

Power the Arc

The machine that makes the arc, and the feeder that pushes the wire. Twenty power sources across MIG/MAG, TIG and stick, from 200 A portables to 500 A at 60% duty.

Fill the Joint

Indexed by AWS classification, because that is what the welding procedure names. Twenty-two classes, every ESAB grade that carries each one, and the differences that decide between them.

Control the Process

Keep the consumables dry, keep the parameters inside the procedure, and be able to prove both afterwards. This is the region an auditor asks about.

Inspect the Weld

Penetrant, magnetic particle and holiday detection — finding the defect before the client does, and the coating fault before the pipeline is buried.

Finish & Protect

Dress the weld, remove the heat tint, restore the passive layer. On stainless and duplex this is not cosmetic — an unpickled weld is the first thing to corrode.
