Features
Pulsing applied to stick welding improves heat input control, minimises distortion on thin gauge material, facilitates out-of-position welding without undercut and reduces spatter. Most stick inverters at this size do not offer it, and on vertical-up work it is the difference between a controlled bead and chasing the puddle.
A digital micro-processor controls every arc parameter, which ESAB state gives best-in-class welding performance through a precise, consistent arc. Consistency between the first electrode and the hundredth is what separates a professional machine from a hobby one.
Smooth DC output suited to alloyed and non-alloyed steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Cast iron in particular needs a stable low-current arc, which is why it is worth ESAB naming it explicitly.
Accepts 120–230 VAC ±15% single phase, so it works on domestic and industrial single-phase outlets alike. Note the published output figures are for 230 V; 120 V values are in the instruction manual.
Arc force and hot start are both adjustable. Hot start lifts current momentarily at strike to establish the arc on a cold electrode; arc force prevents the electrode sticking as the arc shortens. Both are the controls a stick welder actually uses.
Suitable for use with generators, with 7 kW recommended. Combined with PFC and 100 m cable tolerance, that makes it a genuinely usable site machine rather than a shop machine taken outdoors.
Live TIG allows mild steel or stainless TIG welding from the same machine, rated 200 A at 18.0 V on a 25% duty cycle. For full HF TIG, the Rogue ET 201iP PRO is the sibling to specify.
8.4 kg in a 403 × 153 × 264 mm IP23S housing — 1.2 kg lighter than the ET version, since it carries no HF unit.
